Dexun Zhang

My research interests lie broadly in control, optimization, and learning, especially in the structural questions that arise in these areas and the mathematics behind them. I am interested in how the structure and dynamics of a system shape its behavior, and how a better understanding of them can inform the way we model and interact with the system. More generally, I am drawn to the gap between our theoretical descriptions of a system and what it actually does, and to how theoretical understanding can remain meaningful in practice.
